"Open The Books on the VA Culture of Corruption"

Last week, at The New York Meeting, Open The Books founder Adam Andrzejewski addressed the VA Culture of Corruption.  600 people were in attendance at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.

Here's what the data at Open The Books shows:

  • 400,000 bonuses since 2008, how many are undeserved and need to be clawed back?
  • $103 million to auditor Grant Thornton; $56 million in pay going to executives at the Inspector General's office since 2008-  how did all the auditors miss the scandal?
  •  $136 billion in salary to 317,000 employees since 2008, why was it a retired Dr. Sam Foote in Arizona who shined the light on this scandal?
  • $2 million in bonuses to executives at the Appeal Board in Washington, D.C.  If a veteran is lucky or tenacious enough, it takes four years to get a case all the way to DC. Why were bonuses granted?

At OpenTheBooks.com, click on your state, and start searching your local VA salaries Please send us your whistleblower story by responding to this email.

We now know from news reports: 1. 90% of veterans returning from battle waited at least 3 months to see a doctor; 2. 70% of VA facilities employed secret waitlisting practices; 3. for 18 months, the Inspector General "paused visits" to the most troubled facilities; 4. and the VA ignored whistleblowers and "failed to use information from whistleblowers."

That's a corrupt culture.  We are proud to fight for the veterans who have fought for us. Every veteran deserves better.

We could not do this without you. Our service can only be provided by the generosity of individuals like you. Every donation keeps transparency of government at your fingertips. Help our ability to continue to grow and expose all levels of government.
