WASHINGTON (TND) — Congress is in the middle of passing spending bills to fund the federal government this year. Once again, the legislation is packed with billions of dollars in earmarks.

Researchers at the watchdog group OpenTheBooks found that since 2023, congressional funding packages have contained $220 million in earmarks from the "Squad,” a group of eight young progressive members of the House.
