1. Who are the highest paid employees?
A: Across all three cities, last year there were 608 people who made more than the $170,000 salary of Gov Lombardo
(Las Vegas – 236, Henderson – 256, North LV – 116) – that’s 79 more than the year before.
In Las Vegas, city manager Mike Janssen is the highest paid at $355,000. Of the next 10 highest paid, 8 are firefighters, one is the deputy city marshall, and one is the city attorney — making up to $337,000.
In Henderson, the former city manager, Richard Derrick, made $385,000. Former assistant city manager, Stephanie Garcia-Vause, is the new city manager as of January. She was the making $270,000 last year.
Of the next 10 highest paid, 5 are firefighters — including the chief — the city attorney, police officers and two more executives in the city managers officer — making up to $372,000.
Finally, North Las Vegas, as has been reported, former City Manager Ryann Juden collected almost $1 million from a big severance payout, pay as a consultant, cashed out of unused time off, his regular salary and other pay.
New city manager Michaela Moore, formerly city attorney, has a base pay of $322,000.
Besides them, the highest paid 10 staffers — five are police, city attorney, one fire, one corrections and public works employees — all making between $303,000 and $478,000. Four people made more than $400,000 — that’s the highest pay at the smallest city.

2. How much of the pay is from overtime?
A: Each of the three cities had overtime account for 10% or less of their payroll. But that’s $75 million.
About half of employees across all three cities collected overtime pay – in LV, 25 people made $100,000 or more in OT. 9 in N LV, and 7 in Henderson made that much in OT.
Fire and police in each city earned the most in overtime, as is always the case in almost every city, every year. Many double their base pay with overtime.
3. Besides the people making $300,000-$400,000, how modest is the pay for the average worker?

A: The average pay in each city was about $67,000 – that’s $2,000 higher than last year.
That includes part-time and seasonal employees, think hourly staff like lifeguards, maintenance workers, lower-level Parks and Rec staff. But also, full time employees working in every department.
Henderson and Las Vegas each had 29% of employees making $100,000 or more, while N Las Vegas had only 24% — but the highest highly paid, the people making $400,000, and it’s the smallest of the three cities.
North Las Vegas employs about half the number of people as Las Vegas does, but has twice as many people making $300,000 or more.
So while you have over 600 people making more than the governor in the three cities, 70-75% made less than $100,000.
