(BURR RIDGE, IL) – OpenTheBooks founder Adam Andrzejewski today released the following statement regarding plans in Congress to bring transparency to allegedly inappropriate taxpayer-funded settlement payments:
"Using taxpayer funds as settlement or ‘hush money’ payments for harassment claims is outrageous. We applaud Representative Ron DeSantis for announcing his intention to introduction legislation mandating the Office of Compliance to publish a list of settlements. We stand ready to work with Rep. DeSantis and any elected official who is committed to making this information available to the public. Taxpayers deserve to know the truth about how their money is spent," said Adam Andrzejewski, CEO and founder of OpenTheBooks.com.
On Wednesday, Rep. Ron DeSantis (FL-6) announced his intention to introduce transparency bill that would reveal taxpayer-funded harassment settlements involving members of Congress. Rep. DeSantis drafted the legislation following a string of accusations in Congress alleging that members have used taxpayer money to pay sexual harassment settlements within their offices.
