WASHINGTON (TNND) — The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) says it cut $165 billion in wasteful spending from the federal government, but that will not make a dent in the deficit if there are not more cuts in entitlement programs and mandatory spending.
Rachel O’Brien, Deputy Public Policy Editor at Open the Books, says that President Donald Trump is spending taxpayer money 10% faster than former President Joe Biden at the same time last year because of mandatory spending.
“DOGE has done incredible work to find savings, but the heavy lift is on Congress,” O’Brien said.
