Why Does the IRS Need Guns?

After grabbing legal power, bureaucrats are amassing firepower. It’s time to scale back the federal arsenal.

Special agents at the IRS equipped with AR-15 military-style rifles? Health and Human Services "Special Office of Inspector General Agents" being trained by the Army’s Special Forces contractors? The Department of Veterans Affairs arming 3,700 employees?

The number of non-Defense Department federal officers authorized to make arrests and carry firearms (200,000) now exceeds the number of U.S. Marines (182,000). In its escalating arms and ammo stockpiling, this federal arms race is unlike anything in history. Over the last 20 years, the number of these federal officers with arrest-and-firearm authority has nearly tripled to over 200,000 today, from 74,500 in 1996.

What exactly is the Obama administration up to?

On Friday, June 17, our organization, American Transparency, is releasing its OpenTheBooks.com oversight report on the militarization of America. The report catalogs federal purchases of guns, ammunition and military-style equipment by seemingly bureaucratic federal agencies. During a nine-year period through 2014, we found, 67 agencies unaffiliated with the Department of Defense spent $1.48 billion on guns and ammo. Of that total, $335.1 million was spent by agencies traditionally viewed as regulatory or administrative, such as the Smithsonian Institution and the U.S. Mint.

It's amazing this hasn't been reported in main stream media, but not surprising. It's a lot easier for Oligarchs to achieve personal agendas and take control of societies when people are oblivious to their preparations. But the signs say there's more to it. When big greedy bankers, who are never satisfied with the amount of money they have, start openly screwing customers and stealing homes that don't even belong to them using falsified paperwork, it means they no longer care about their customer business, and that's one of the most terrifying sign you can get. It shows something is very wrong and/or bad is expected to happen. Why else would the government just sit and watch 10 years of Bankers looting the country? No criminal prosecutions by the DOJ, just fake punishments for show, in the form of billion dollar fines. That would be great if the regulators collecting those fines weren't under the same umbrella as the banks (Federal Reserve System). It's he equivalent of allowing criminals to investigate themselves and collect the fines they pay. Make no mistake about it. These are corrupt people who don't care about anyone or anything other than themselves. They grant each other pardons and immunity for their crimes while locking up half of our citizens for less. If they are collecting guns it isn't to fight the fake threat of Muslim terrorists. It's for the same people they were spying on, supposedly to protect. US. Corrupt governments fear unity among their citizens. That's a real threat to them. It's the only threat. And racism is the one tool that prevents it, which is why they have allowed an openly racist bigot to become President. Makes for a great diversion too.

Your WSJ report 6/17 is stunning. So far I haven't seen any new follow up on this story... seems like Fox News should be all over it... and 60 Minutes, etc. Will they be? If not, how come? I loved Alan Simpson back in the 50's- 60's when he published his... was it "The Golden Fleece" reports.
